PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The UConn (1-5-1, 0-5-1 BIG EAST) men's soccer fell in its midweek BIG EAST tilt, dropping a 4-1 decision at Villanova (2-8, 2-5 BIG EAST) Wednesday afternoon at the Higgins Soccer Complex.

UConn recorded four shots on-goal – three in the first and one in the second. The attempts came off the feet of Giancarlo Vaccaro (2x), Kai Griese, and Ahdan Tait. Goalkeeper Jahmali Waite collected six saves in the loss.

The Huskies came out firing and tested the Villanova defense just four minutes into the contest. Vaccaro tried to catch Carson Williams off guard and went bottom center with his attempt, but the Wildcat keeper was able to make the save and keep UConn off the board.

Villanova opened up the game scoring in the 13' on a goal from Theo Quartey. UConn wasted no time and went back on the attack, finding an equalizer at the 13:43. Jayden Reid played a beautiful through ball to Vaccaro, and the freshman refused to be denied again – drilling one into the back of the cage to level the score at one.

The Wildcats would get one back in the 35', retaking the lead on Quartey's penalty kick. The Huskies would look to counter and answer quickly with a score of their own, but Griese's shot at the 39:46 mark was turned aside and the home team took a 2-1 lead into the break.

Down one, the Huskies had another chance at the equalizer in the 52'. Tait attempted to sneak one into the bottom right corner of the net, but Marshall was able to make the grab once again.

Villanova added goals in the 60^thand 75^th minute to put the game out of reach and lock down the result.
