Huskies Face Villanova, Temple in Weekend Trip

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's volleyball team (1-2, 1-1) will travel to Philadelphia this weekend for a three-game road trip. The Huskies take on Big East rival Villanova on Friday, March 5th and Saturday, March 6th before an afternoon matchup with Temple on Sunday, March 7th.
Last Time Out
UConn enters the weekend after splitting last weekend's series with St. John's. The Huskies defeated the Red Storm in four sets in the first matchup before falling in four sets in the second. Junior Caylee Parker led the team with 33 kills in two matches. Fellow junior Kennadie Jake-Turner added 18 kills on the weekend while redshirt junior Courtney Morris tallied 55 assists. The Huskies had balanced efforts on both sides of the court and will look to continue that with an important conference matchup ahead.
Scouting Villanova, Temple
The Huskies will face Villanova (1-1) Friday and Saturday for the first time in 4 years, with a 2-4 record since 2008. The Wildcats last game was a 3-0 loss to Pittsburgh on February 14th. The last meeting between the teams saw the Wildcats win the match 3-0 in Philadelphia on September 8th, 2017. UConn's last win over Villanova came in 2012, with a 3-1 victory in Storrs.
Both Friday and Saturday's matches are scheduled for 6:00pm EST.
Sunday's meeting with former American Athletic Conference rival Temple will be the 17th meeting between the teams. Temple is sporting a 6-4 record this spring, but the Owls fell to Towson 3-1 last time out on February 27th. UConn faced the Owls in the 2021 season opener, falling by a score of 3-1. The Huskies did sweep Temple in their final AAC season in 2019.
Sunday's match is scheduled for 1:00pm EST.
