Huskies Face Creighton in Big East Semifinal Match

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's volleyball team (4-6, 4-4 BE) will head to Omaha, Nebraska for the Big East Tournament. The Huskies are slated to play the tournament hosts Creighton Bluejays (10-3, 7-1 BE) on Friday, April 2nd at 12:00pm at the D.J. Sokol Arena at Creighton University.
UConn's last appearance in the BIG EAST Championship was 2012, which was the last time the Huskies played in the BIG EAST before playing seven years in the American Athletic Conference. UConn is 12-39 all-time in the BIG EAST Volleyball championships.
Last Time Out
The Huskies enter Friday's semifinal after sweeping the regular season finale series against Seton Hall last weekend. UConn took a 3-0 victory on Friday and a 3-1 victory Saturday, where the team celebrated the four seniors graduating this spring. Junior Caylee Parker was named Offensive Player of the Week after the 2-0 weekend where she tallied back-to-back double-doubles, recording 30 kills and 10 digs over two games.
Creighton enters Friday's contest after sweeping Xavier in their final regular season series. The Bluejays won Saturday's match 3-2 before winning 3-0 on Sunday evening. Junior outside hitter Jaela Zimmerman leads Creighton with 159 kills on the season, averaging 3.46 kills per set.
Matchup History
Friday's match will be just the second time these two teams have met, with the first meeting dating back to September 12, 2009. The Huskies came away with a 3-2 victory in the only meeting, played at a neutral site in Dayton, Ohio.

The winner of Friday's semifinal will advance to the Big East Championship match that will be played on Saturday, April 3rd at 12:30pm. The match will be played in Omaha, Nebraska at the D.J. Sokol Arena and will be shown on FS1.
