HookC Wins BIG EAST Regular Season Championship

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (30-16, 13-4 BIG EAST) captured the BIG EAST regular season championship on Saturday afternoon with a 10-2 win against Seton Hall at a packed Elliot Ballpark.
The regular season title is the first for UConn, in its return to the BIG EAST, since claiming the BIG EAST regular season crown in 2011.

The Huskies outscored the Pirates 48-11 in the four-game series to sweep the set and leapfrog Creighton and the Pirates for the crown.
UConn got seven innings from their bullpen with just one run allowed. Justin Willis earned the win with 2.0 scoreless innings of work.

Kenny Haus and Andrew Marrero bridged the gap to Caleb Wurster with 2.0 innings of one run ball while the UConn closer, Wurster, earned the three-inning save with 3.0 shutout innings on the bump.
The Huskies provided plenty of offense with Zach Bushling (solo homer) and Kyler Fedko (three-run)Â delivering the ninth and 10th round-trippers of the series to distance the Huskies from the Pirates.

UConn enters the BIG EAST Conference Championship by winning seven games in a row and 26 of the last 32 since beginning the year 4-10.
UConn is set to play No. 4 Xavier on Thursday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m. at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.
