BSB Offense Continues to Roll In 11-1 WIn at Big East Championship

MASON, Ohio - The top seeded UConn baseball team (31-16) continued to roll as an offense with an 11-1 victory against No. 4 seeded Xavier in the first round of the BIG EAST Championship at Prasco Park on Thursday evening.
The Huskies scored in each of their first six at-bats to run away and hide from the Musketeers on Thursday.
Against BIG EAST first team pitcher Nick Zwack, the Huskies jumped on him for five runs in three innings of work. David Langer led the way for UConn with a four-hit night that featured his second home run of the season in the third.
The Huskies have now scored 73 runs in the last six games that they have played and have now won a season-high eight games in a row.
Zach Bushling, Kyler Fedko, Chris Brown and Pat Winkel each drove in a pair at the dish as the Huskies scored double digit runs for the sixth-straight game.
Austin Peterson (7-1) earned the victory with six solid innings on the mound and was followed by three scoreless frames from left-hander Garrett Coe. Coe earned his first career save by getting the final nine outs of the game.
The Huskies advance to the winner's bracket to take on No. 2 seeded Creighton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening. The Huskies and Bluejays have never faced off on the diamond.

- Austin Peterson finishes the year against BIG EAST opponents with a 4-0 record in six starts with a 2.23 ERA. The right-hander pitched 36.1 innings and struck out 34.
- David Langer collected his first four-hit of his UConn career on Thursday.
- Garrett Coe pitched a career-high three innings and notched a career-high five strikeouts.
- UConn has won five-straight BIG EAST Championship contests.
