BSB Silence Creighton, 2-0, to advance to BIG EAST Championship Game

MASON, Ohio - The UConn baseball team (32-16) shut down the Creighton Bluejays, 2-0, on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Prasco Park, to advance to the BIG EAST Championship game.
The Huskies are in the driver's seat with a 2-0 record in a double elimination tournament and need just one more win to capture the automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
Starting pitcher Ben Casparius was exceptional for the Huskies with seven shutout innings that featured just three hits allowed and 13 strikeouts. The 13 strikeouts gives Casparius 123 punch outs this season, passing Mason Feole (2018) for the second most strikeouts in a UConn single season (Colin McLaughlin, 138, during 1979 College World Series season).
Justin Willis and Caleb Wurster helped finish out the eighth shutout of the season for the UConn pitching staff. Willis retired the only two batters he faced in the eighth and Wurster followed with a four-out save, his eighth of the year.
Kyler Fedko provided all the offense that the Huskies would need in the fourth with a lead off solo homer into the right field bleachers to make it 1-0 'Skies. It was Fedko's BIG EAST leading 10th of the season.
"The Warden," as Kyler is known is Storrs, added a sac fly in the fifth to extend the UConn lead to 2-0.
The Huskies extend their season-long win streak to nine games and have won six-straight in BIG EAST Championship contests dating back to 2013.
