BSB Wins 2021 BIG EAST Tournament Title

MASON, Ohioย - Theย UConnย baseball team captured its fourth BIG EAST Tournament title with a 10-6 win in a winner-take-all BIG EAST Championship game against Xavier on Sunday evening.
The Huskies entered the day needing to win one game in order to capture the conference crown and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
UConnย will be going to its third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance and seventh NCAA Tournament since 2010.
The Musketeers forced a winner-take-all game with a 5-4 win in the first game of the day but the Huskies scored three runs in the ninth to carry a bit of momentum into game seven.
Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the fourth, Chris Brown scored David Langer from first base with an RBI double to the left center field alley.
Kyler Fedko, Chris Winkelย and Christian all added RBI singles in the fourth to make it 5-1 Huskies at the end of the frame.
The Jackย Kaiaserย Most Outstanding Player of the BIg East Championship,ย Kyler Fedko, added an RBI double in the fifth to make it 7-1 Huskies.
After the Musketeers trimmed the lead to 7-3, Pat Winkelย delivered a two-run single to extend the lead back to six with a 9-3 lead.
Caleb Wursterย closed out the championship with 3.2 innings of work, collecting his ninth save of the season.ย
The Huskies won the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles in the same season for the first time in program history.
UConnย will find out its NCAA Regional destination on Monday, May 31 at noon on ESPN2
