BSB Begins South Bend Regional Against Michigan

South Bend, Ind. - The UConn baseball team returns to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth-straight season and the seventh time in the last 11 tournaments on Friday at 7 p.m. against No. 3 Michigan on ESPN3.
The Huskies are seeded No. 2 in the South Bend Regional with No. 1 seed Notre Dame playing No. 4 seed Central Michigan at 1 p.m. on Friday. The winner/loser of the first game will play the winner and loser of the UConn/Michigan game on Saturday.
The NCAA Regionals serve as four-team, double elimination tournament with winners advancing to play in a Super Regional best two-of-three series. The winner of the South Bend Regional will advance to play the winner of the Starkville Regional.
.All of the Huskies NCAA Tournament games will be on the ESPN family of networks and online on ESPN3.
UConn enters the NCAA Tournament as one of the hottest teams in the country. The Huskies have won 29 of their last 36 games including 10 of their last 11. During that stretch, UConn captured the 2021 BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles.
The Huskies and Wolverines have some recent history with the two teams playing four games during the abbreviated 2020 campaign. UConn defeated No. 8 Michigan in Scottsdale, Ariz. in the final game of the MLB4 Tournament, 7-1, before beating the No. 1 ranked Wolverines, two-out-of-three, the following weekend in Port St. Lucie, Fla. It was the first-ever series win for the Huskies against a No. 1 ranked team.
UConn returns to Frank Eck Stadium for the first time since being in the BIG EAST Conference with Notre Dame in 2013. The Huskies are 18-28-1 all-time against the Irish with the last meeting coming in the 2013 BIG EAST Championship game, with the No. 8 sseded Huskies defeating No. 7 seeded Notre Dame to earn the BIG EAST Tournament title.Â
The Huskies and Chippewas have a brief history with UConn leading the all-time series, 2-0.
