STORRS, Conn. – The Hockey East Association announced their annual academic awards with 22 UConn women's ice hockey student-athletes selected to the 2020-21 All-Academic team. The 22 selections marked the most among Hockey East Teams, one more than Merrimack's total of 21 honorees.
The league announced that 167 female student-athletes earned the honor this season. Each student-athlete achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two academic periods during which he was actively competing.
Of the 22 Huskies selected, 15 student-athletes earned the honor for a second time or better. Seniors Emily Reid, Morgan Wabick and Taylor Wabick each earned status as Distinguished Scholars, which recognizes student-athletes who have achieved at least a 3.0 GPA in each semester of four varsity seasons.
Rising junior Coryn Tormala was one of seven standouts in Hockey East to earn mention as Top Scholar Athlete, which honors student-athletes who achieved the highest GPA in the entire league.
Of the 22 honorees six were making their third appearance on the list and six were making their debut.
