Huskies Set to Run at Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational

STORRS, Conn. - After a winning performance at the season opening race at Marist last weekend, the UConn women's cross country team is back in action on Saturday running at the UMass Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational.
The 5K race is set to step off at 10:30 am on Saturday morning at the UMass Cross Country Course on the Amherst, Mass. campus. The race will feature runners from host UMass as well as Boston College, Boston University, Amherst College and Sacred Heart.
The Huskies opened the season at the Marist Invitational last weekend and won the six team race with a total team score of 31 points.  Eight Huskies finished in the top 25, with six of those finishing in the top 15 and four finishing in the top ten. In her first collegiate race, feshman Monica Strain (Castleton, NY) was the top finisher for Huskies, coming in second in the 5k race with a time of 18:26.7 and an average mile time of 5:56.2.
UConn didn't have their full lineup last weekend, holding out top-returners in seniors Mia Nahom (New MIlford, CT), Randi Burr (Westerly, RI) and Celia Chacko (Windsor, Conn.) and sophomore Jenna Zydanowicz (West Hartford, CT).
