STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team heads to Indianapolis, Indiana to take on the Butler Bulldogs on Saturday, September 18th. It will be the first road game of the season for the Huskies and the first Big East test of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm at the Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl.
Last Time Out
The Huskies return to action after a dominant win over in-state rival Yale on Tuesday night. Senior Dom Laws opened the scoring in the first half and freshman Scott Testori scored his first career collegiate goal to double the UConn lead just before the break. Second half goals from sophomore Jayden Reid and freshman Giancarlo Vaccaro sealed a 4-0 win for the Huskies, their second straight and third this season. Reid finished the game with a goal and three assists. Graduate student goalkeeper Jahmali Waite recorded his second straight clean sheet and third this season.
Scouting the Bulldogs
Butler enters Saturday's contest after dropping its last two games against Western Michigan (2-0) and Wisconsin (1-0). The Bulldogs are 1-3-1 to open the season and will be looking to bounce back in their first conference game of the year. They have been shut out three times this season and have scored just two goals, both of which came in their only win this season, a 2-1 victory over Milwaukee. Five Bulldogs have produced a point so far this season, with the goals coming from Wilmer Cabrera Jr. and Tommy Visser.
First Conference Test
Saturday's game will be the first time UConn and Butler meet. It will also be the first conference test for both teams, who will be looking to make an early statement in Big East play. The Huskies struggled with Big East matchups in the spring season, but following great defensive performances and balanced scoring in the opening four games this season, UConn is ready to get off to a fast start to this year's conference campaign.
