No.13 FH Falls in Final BIG EAST Contest of the Regular Season

STORRS, Conn. - No.13 UConn field hockey (11-5, 5-2) team lost to Temple (12-5, 4-3) at home on Friday afternoon in their final BIG EAST matchup of the regular season.
The Owls put one in the back of the net to give Temple an early lead against the Huskies in the first quarter. They proceeded to score again in the second and third quarters to put UConn down 0-3 going into the final quarter of the game.
With 5:00 minutes left on the clock, Jasmijn Damman scored one for UConn to cut the deficit to two goals. Head Coach, Paul Caddy, pulled his goalie to give the Huskies an additional field player in the final minutes of the game. After a penalty call with less than a minute left on the clock, senior back Claire Jandewerth, scored in a one-on-one matchup with the Temple goalie. The two-goal scoring burst at the end of the game was not enough for the Huskies and they fell to the Owls 2-3.
The Huskies will host their final regular season game on Sunday at 1 p.m. against No. 2 Maryland at Nancy Stevens Field. The game will serve as Senior Day for UConn where they will honor 10 seniors in a pregame ceremony.
