The UConn Huskies enther the matchup with Maine ranked 7 in the national polls. This is the highest ranking in program history for the Huskies.
The Huskies received two votes in the national polls to be ranked No.1. This is the first time in program history the Huskies have received a first place vote.
This is the Huskies 6th consecutive week in the national polls, improving in the rank[1]ings each week. » The 9-1-1 start for the Huskies is the best start in program history.
UConn has outscored their opponents this season 38-20. 14 different Huskies have reg[1]istered a Goal to start the season while 18 Huskies have registered at least one point.
The Huskies special teams continues to be a focus as they have only let in three power play goals all season out of 44 attempts. The Huskies currently rank 2nd in the country in penalty kill %.
Sophomore goaltender Logan Terness is currenlty second in the nation with a .950 save %. Ternees made a career high 43 saves in a shutout tie against #11 Ohio State and recently had a 21 save preformance against Maine.
Freshman goaltender Arsenii Sergeev currently ranks 13 in the nation with a .930 save %. The Tandem of Terness and Sergeev have the Huskies third in the nation in save % only trailing Northeastern University and UMass Lowell.
The Huskies continue to receive contributions from all four lines. The Huskies line of Chase Bradley Ty Amonte and Nick Capone was one of the Huskies most succesfull lines against Maine. The line registered three goals including a game winning goal from Ty Amonte.
Junior Ryan Tverberg currently leads the Huskies with 7 goals on the season.Followed by Chase Bradley with 5 and Matthew Wood with 4 goals.
With his performance against Maine last weekend, freshman Matthew Wood was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week.
The Huskies and Friars faced off two times last season with both teams winning one game. Providence won the first matchup by a final of 6-4, followed by the Huskies tak[1]ing the second matchup by a final of 2-1.
