#12 UConn Falls Short to Boston University

Storrs, Conn. - The women's ice hockey team fell short to Boston University by a score of 2-1 Friday night in game one of the home and home series.
Period 1: A close battle took hold early in the first period as UConn and Boston University would trade shots. UConn would get the power play in the first three minutes of the game, but the Terriers would kill the penalty and hold strong. Then, the Huskies would get on the board in the middle of the period with a goal by Jada Habisch. Boston University would respond minutes after as Catherine Foulem set up Christina Vote for the equalizer. The first period would end at 1-1 apiece.
Period 2: Boston University would slowly slip away from UConn in the second period. The Terriers would take the lead early in the second period. Foulem and Nadia Mattivi would set up the first year, Brooke Disher for the goal. UConn would head to a power play shortly after, but again could not execute under the penalty. Boston University would keep it steady the rest of the way in the period at 2-1.
Period 3: UConn would get chances but could never find the back of the net. By the end of the game, the Huskies would put up 39 total shots. That would make it 38 saves for Boston University goaltender, Andrea Brändi. In the third period, UConn would get its third Power Play of the game, but again could not take advantage. The Terriers would remain strong and take the 2-1 final score.
