No. 25 Huskies' Home Opener vs. UMass Lowell Pushed to Thursday

STORRS, Conn. -Â Contending at home for the first time this season, the No. 25 UConn women's lacrosse team will host UMass Lowell on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. Due to projected inclement weather on Friday, the game was moved Thursday and will take place inside the Shenkman Training Center.
Attendance will be limited to season tickets holders and friends and family of the student-athletes and coaches. Season ticket holders will be receiving an email communication from the UConn Ticket Office. Thursday's game will not be streamed.
Senior Sydney Watson earned her first BIG EAST weekly award of the season after registering seven points on five goals and two assists, 10 draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Watson shined in the opener as she led UConn in points (6), goals (4), assists (2), and followed by extending her point streak to 24 games at No. 13 James Madison.
Junior Ariana Kline was named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll after notching nine draw controls, seven caused turnovers and five ground balls. The junior leads the conference with 3.5 caused turnovers per game.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
Molly Shaw scored with two seconds left to lift UMass Lowell past Marist, 11-10, on Sunday for its first win of the season. Shaw leads the team in goals (7) while Megan Brockbank holds the team leads in both points (9) and assists (7). In net, Jillian Schumacher has seen action in all three games and owns a 9.61 goals against average and .410 save percentage. Nass Layton is the top defender for the River Hawks and holds the top ranks in caused turnovers (5) and ground balls (7).
THE SERIES
UConn has won each of its games against the River Hawks by a combined score of 38-19.

The Huskies will return to the road at New Hampshire for a 1 p.m. matchup on Sunday, Feb. 27.
