Women's Lacrosse Readies for Saturday Showdown at UMass

STORRS, Conn. -Â Following a pair of 23-point outputs last week, the UConn women's lacrosse team will look to maintain its high-octane attack as it returns to action at UMass on Saturday, March 5. Opening draw from Garber Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Huskies picked up their second straight win as they pounded New Hampshire, 23-10, on Sunday. Seniors Lia LaPrise, Sydney Watson and junior Kyra Place each tabbed hat tricks, while 10 different Huskies found the back of the net,
Watson earned her second straight BIG EAST Midfield of the Week honor after stuffing the stat sheet with 11 goals, four assists, 15 points, 26 draw controls and three ground balls in pacing the Huskies to convincing wins over UMass Lowell and New Hampshire. Watson is leading the BIG EAST in goals (16), goals per game (4.0) and points per game (5.5).
LaPrise earned a spot on the BIG EAST weekly honor roll piling up 11 points off seven goals and four assists.
SCOUTING UMASS
UMass is off to a 3-1 start and is coming off a 21-6 drubbing of Boston University. Kendra Harbinger has scored a hat trick in three of UMass's four games and leads the team in both goals (12) and points (16). Alex Finn follows with 10 goals and is the top assist provider (5).
Audra Tosone guides the defense with a team-best 10 ground balls, seven caused turnovers and 16 draw controls. Gina Carroll has started all four games in between the pipes and holds a 12.98 goals against average.
THE SERIES
Watson scored with 1:36 left in OT as the Huskies earned a 12-11 win at home last season to snap an eight-game skid to the Minutewomen. UMass leads the all-time series 13-6.

UConn will take Joseph J. Morrone Stadium for the first time this season as it hosts Manhattan on Wednesday, March 9 at 2 p.m.
