Softball set for midweek matchup against Merrimack

Andover, MA – UConn (28-14) travels to Merrimack (8-22) for a midweek matchup.
The Huskies are coming off a series win over conference foe, Providence. UConn's offense is clicking at the right time as the end of the regular season draws near. The Huskies last week scored 28 runs, with ten extra base hits. They have been patient at the plate drawing 20 walks the past five games. Senior Briana Marcelino led the Huskies at the dish with a .471 batting average, knocking in eight runs, and scoring six. She took home BIG EAST honors for her performance last week.
The pitching staff has come on strong in conference play. Last week as a staff they held a 2.00 era, only giving up 27 hits in 35 innings of work. They had 45 strikeouts in five games.
Merrimack comes into the midweek losing four of their last five games.
Game time is set for 4:00pm.
