Watson Named Tewaaraton Award Nominee

WASHINGTON - For the second straight year, senior Sydney Watson of the No. 15 UConn women's lacrosse team has been named a Tewaaraton Award nominee, the organization announced Thursday.
The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are comprised of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
Five men's and five women's finalists will be selected from the nominees, and those finalist will be announced in three weeks at the conclusion of the regular season.
Watson is one of the elite players on the draw control in the nation as she ranks fifth in the NCAA with 10.0 draw controls per game. She set the single-game draw control record with 20 wins and broke her own single-season draw control record with 140 wins through 14 games. Furthermore, she leads the BIG EAST in points per game (4.7) and ranks second in goals per game (3.4)
The senior has 48 goals, 19 assists, 67 points, 13 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers and is a five-time BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week this year.
