Softball prepares for matchup with Boston College

Storrs, CT – UConn heads to Boston College for a midweek out of conference matchup.
The Huskies (32-14) are coming off a series sweep of Seton Hall and have won their 14 of their last 15 games. In those 15 games the Huskies hold a collective .308 batting average scoring 107 runs with 32 extra base hits. UConn ranks fourth in the country in stolen bases this season with 113. In the past 15 games alone, the Huskies have stolen 52 bases in 53 attempts. The Huskies are led by Briana Marcelino who received BIG EAST honors for her performance over the weekend at Seton Hall. She led the team with a .467 batting average, knocking in 11 runs. She hit a home run in all three games against the Pirates to lead the Huskies to the weekend sweep.
The pitching staff has found their groove through conference play. Collectively in the past 15 game, they have a 1.89 era, with 128 strikeouts. They are holding opponents to a .195 batting average in those 15 games. They are led by Elise Sokolsky who received BIG EAST honors this past week. Sokolsky has been dominant in conference play as she has a 1.88 era with a 12-1 record. She has 146 strikeouts on the season which ranks first in the BIG EAST.
Boston College (20-23) is coming into Wednesday's game losing three of their last four games. The Eagles are led by senior outfielder, Ellie Mataya. She leads BC with a .355 batting average, 50 hits, and 23 runs scored.
Game time is set for 4:00pm on Wednesday.
