Softball takes down Boston College 5-1

Brighton, MA – UConn beats out of conference rival Boston College 5-1. Now move to 33-14 on the year.
Elise Sokolsky got the start in the circle for the Huskies. She went six strong innings only giving up one run and struck out four. She was credited with the win and now moves to 19-4 on the season.
UConn's offense got it going early in the first inning. Jana Sanden hit a two run double to score Briana Marcelino and Lexi Hastings giving the Huskies an early 2-0 lead. Later in the inning, Olivia Sappington hit a two run homer, her sixth of the year to give UConn a 4-0 lead.
Elise Sokolsky was dominant through four innings as she kept the BC offense at bay. The Eagles would get on the board in the fifth inning with a home run making it 4-1 Huskies.
UConn went on to add an insurance run in the top half of the seventh inning. Aziah James grounded out to third to bring Sami Barnett home making it 5-1.
Marybeth Olson came on to close out the win for the Huskies in the seventh inning.
UConn will be in action on Saturday as they welcome Saint Joseph's for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00pm.
