STORRS, Conn. - The No. 15 UConn baseball team (34-8) defeated Yale (17-15), 8-4, on a chilly Wednesday afternoon at Elliot Ballpark.
Right-hander Ian Cooke moved to 7-0 on the season with 5.0 shutout frames that included five punch outs.
Ben Huber led the way for the UConn offense with a four-hit game that included three doubles and three runs batted in.Â
Freshman Matt Garbowski returned to the lineup after being sidelined since April 6 and recorded a pair of hits including an RBI double.
Devin Kirby followed Cooke in relief and fired a scorreless sixth inning.Â
The Bulldogs trimmed the UConn lead to 6-3 in the seventh but Garrett Coe came on and stranded a pair in scoring position to keep the Huskies ahead by three.
Justin Willis closed out the 34th win of the season by getting the final two outs of the game.Â
Next up, the Huskies head to Indianapolis for a three-game BIG EAST series at Butler. The series opener begins Friday, April 29 at 4 p.m.
