No. 15 HookC Makes First Trip to Butler

INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 15 UConn baseball team (34-8) makes its first-ever trip to Butler and Bulldog Park this weekend with the three-game BIG EAST series beginning on Friday, April 29 at 3 p.m. Due to forecasted weather throughout the Indianapolis area this weekend there may be schedule changes. The Huskies enter the weekend tied for first place in the BIG EAST standings with Creighton with both teams holding 8-1 records.
UConn is coming off a pair of midweek wins against Northeastern, 5-2 (10 inns), and Yale, 8-4, to reach the 34-win mark on the season. UConn has won 30 or more games in 15 of his 18 seasons (2020 cut short due to Covid) under head coach Jim Penders.
The Huskies and Bulldogs have played three times all-time with all three meetings occuring during the 2004 season in Jacksonville, Fla. UConn is 3-0 including the first career win for head coach Jim Penders on March 8, 2004. Current UConn pitching coach Josh MacDonald earned the victory on the hill with 7.2 innings of work.
UConn enters the weekend with the second best winning percentage in the country with .810 mark. The Huskies lead the country with 19 road wins.
The Huskies lead the BIG EAST in scoring, hits, fielding percentage, team ERA, walks allowed per nine innings, strikeouts per nine innings, slugging and on-base percentage.Â
