STANFORD, CA. - The UConn baseball team (50-14) won an offensive shootout against No. 2 Stanford, 13-12, to take game one of the Super Regionals at Sunken Diamond.
The Huskies registered a season-high 10 extra base hits to move to one win away from the College World Series.
UConn got on the board first in the opening frame on an RBI double from Ben Huber and then followed it up with an eight-run second inning that saw 12 Huskies come to the plate.
Matt Donlan and Korey Morton highlighted the frame with each hitting a two-run homer. Casey Dana registered a two-run double while T.C. Simmons and Bryan Padilla added run scoring two-baggers.
Pat Gallagher notched his 11th victory of the year with 6.1 innings of work, allowing five runs and striking out eight.
Simmons led the way with three hits and reached four times, coming up just a homer shy of the cycle.
Stanford rallied with six runs in the ninth but the Huskies closed it out to secure their first-ever Super-Regional victory.
Game two of the series will start at 7:06 p.m. ET/4:06 p.m. PT on Sunday.

- Eight of the nine Huskies recorded an extra-base hit en route to a season-high 10 exta base hits.
- The Huskies moved to 7-2 against Power 5 conference schools this season.
- Pat Gallagher recorded his 11th win of the season, tying Matt Barnes (2011) and Austin Peterson (2022) for second most in a single season (Colin McLaughlin, 12, 1979).
- Erik Stock registered a pair of hits on Saturday to move to 96 hits on the season. He sits alone in second with most hits in a UConn single season (Mike Nemeth, 98, 2010).
