Landyn White Earns 2021-22 BIG EAST Sports Excellence Award

NEW YORK – UConn women's lacrosse senior Landyn White was selected as a winner of the 2021-22 BIG EAST Sport Excellence Award, which recognizes academic and athletic achievement as well as community service.
The Sport Excellence Awards are given to one student-athlete in each BIG EAST-sponsored sport based on academic credentials, athletic accolades or performances and volunteer service to the community. Student-athletes who have attained junior academic standing and a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 are eligible. The winners are chosen by the BIG EAST Faculty Athletics Representative Council.
White posted a 3.546 grade-point average as an allied health sciences major. She was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year, All-BIG EAST First Team, IWLCA All-Northeast Region First Team and Inside Lacrosse All-America Honorable Mention this season.
White set the single-season win record (13) in net for the Huskies and started all 18 games. The BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year led the conference in saves (172) and saves per game (10.12). White recorded 11 double-digit save efforts and finished the season with a .454 save percentage.
White backstopped the Huskies to a 13-5 overall record and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
