Huskies to Host Dog Pound Challenge

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's volleyball team competes at home for the first time this season in the seventh annual Dog Pound Challenge this weekend in Gampel Pavilion.
The Huskies take on Lindenwood on Friday at 7 p.m. before facing Brown on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and Bryant on Saturday at 7 p.m.
UConn competed in the San Diego Invitational last weekend against No. 15 San Diego, Utah and SMU. Senior Caylee Parker was named to the all-tournament team after leading UConn with 3.4 kills per set.
On Friday, the Huskies will wear gold shoelaces in honor of Go4TheGoal, which raises awareness for pediatric cancer. The team will be available post-match for autographs on the court.
On Saturday, the PawSafe Animal Rescue will have dogs available for adoption from noon to 1:30 p.m.
SCOUTING LINDENWOOD
Lindenwood (3-3) last beat North Carolina A&T, 3-2, in the Wildcat Classic.
This season, Madilyn Dement leads the Lions with 2.95 kills per set while Taylor Gentemann is averaging 2.86 kills per set. Lindenwood was picked ninth in the preseason OVC poll.
SCOUTING BROWN
Brown (3-4) is coming off a 3-2 win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the Adidas Invitational at Rice last weekend.
This season, Sophia Miller. Leads the Bears with 3.61 kills per set. Gabby Derrick paces the team with 1.14 blocks per set. Brown was selected as the Ivy League favorites in the preseason poll.
SCOUTING BRYANT
Bryant (7-5) is coming off a 3-0 win over Rhode Island on Tuesday. Alysa Wright led the Bulldogs with 10 kills in the match.
Aubrey Lapour leads Bryant this season with 2.50 kills per set. The Bulldogs were picked to finish third in the preseason America East poll.
UP NEXT
The Huskies begin BIG EAST play next weekend. UConn travels to Seton Hall on Friday and to St. John's on Saturday.
