Huskies Fall to Marquette in 3 Sets

Milwaukee, Wis. – The University of Connecticut women's volleyball team fell to Marquette in three sets Friday night.
The first set began with both teams battling through long rallies to score and trade points. From the start UConn was led by seniors Caylee Parker and Jasmine Davis. The Huskies would take a timeout as Marquette would jump out to a 12-8 lead. UConn would continue to battle putting together small scoring runs; however, Marquette would eventually take set one by a final of 25-18. Parker and Davis would finish set one with a combined six kills.
Marquette would start set two strong, instantly jumping out to an 11-6 lead, forcing the Huskies to call a timeout The Huskies would regroup and respond following the timeout, fighting their way back to cut the Golden Eagles lead to one. Marquette would take a timeout after three unanswered points by the Huskies would tie the game at 20. UConn and Marquette would trade blows, with the Golden Eagles eventually taking the second set by a final of 25-21.
UConn would start the third set strong, as they would capitalize off Marquette errors to build a lead. Marquette would not back down as they would eventually tie the game at nine. The Golden Eagles used the momentum created earlier in the set to build their lead, eventually jumping out to a 21-12 lead. UConn would try to cut the Marquette lead; however, the Golden Eagles would end up taking the set 25-18 and the match by a final of 3-0.

The Huskies have a quick turnaround as they will travel to Chicago, Illinois, for their match tomorrow Saturday October 1 against DePaul. The match is set to begin at 7pm.
