#14 UConn Set to Face Maine and New Hampshire this Weekend

Storrs, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team face Maine away in Orono, ME on Friday, Jan. 27 and then host New Hampshire in Toscano Family Ice Forum on Sunday, Jan. 29.Â
Entering the matchup, UConn ranks at No. 14 in the DI women's ice hockey national poll. The Huskies are 16-8-3 overall and 10-7-3 in the Hockey East. Last time out, UConn tied with Providence 2-2 on Friday, Jan. 20. Â
Highlighting last game was Riley Grimley as Grimley would extend the lead 2-0 in the third before the Friars rallied back to even up the score later in the third. Grimley's goal was her third goal of the season. Also, UConn goaltender Tia Chan would finish the game with 42 saves.Â
Scouting the Black BearsÂ
Heading into the matchup, Maine is 12-14-1 overall and 9-10-1 in Hockey East play. The Black Bears won 2-1 in overtime against Boston College last Saturday. Leading the way is Mira Seregely as Seregely is posting 11 goals, eight assists, and 19 points this season. Â
UConn split the two-game home series against Maine back on October 28 and October 29.Â
Scouting the WildcatsÂ
Heading into the matchup, New Hampshire is 9-17-0 overall and 7-12-0 in Hockey East action. The Wildcats lost 3-1 against Boston University last Saturday. Kira Juodikis scored the lone goal last game. Juodikis has 11 total goals this season. Â
UConn split the home and home series against New Hampshire back on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3. Â
On Sunday, UConn will take part in the annual Skating Strides event as the women's ice hockey team will partner with UConn Health to raise funds for their UConn Cancer Research Fund. Â
Both games this weekend can be streamed live on ESPN+. Puck drop on Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m. and puck drop on Sunday is scheduled for 3 p.m. Â
