UConn Win Streak Ends in Home Loss to Creighton

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn volleyball team saw their two-game BIG EAST win streak come to an end Friday night at the UConn Volleyball Center as the Creighton Blue Jays came to campus and posted a 3-0 win over the Huskies.
The Blue Jays, 16-4 and 7-2 in the BIG EAST, finished the match hitting .390 (48-9-100) and had 8.0 total blocks while posting wins of 25-12, 25-21 and 25-13. Norah Sis led the way with 15 kills and a.406 hitting percentage and picked-up a double double with 11 digs while adding two aces. Ava Martin tacked on 11 kills and hit .417 in the win.
The Blue Jays won the first set 25-12 with Sis leading the way with five kills as the team hit .607. In the second set, the Huskies hung tough and used a 4-0 run to take a 15-14 lead and forced a Creighton time-out. Out of the break, the Blue Jays closed the set outscoring UConn 11-6 the rest of the way to win 25-21. Creighton left little doubt in the third set, using an early 9-0 run to take a 10-2 lead and never look back en route to a 25-13 win and the match.
The Huskies got 10 kills from sophomore Emma Werkmeister (Victor, N.Y.) in the loss. Freshman Mya Ayro (Greenwood, Ind.) finished with seven kills while senior Karly Berkland (Williamsburg, Iowa) had 13 digs.
UConn, now 7-15 overall and 2-8 in the league, returns to BIG EAST action with a weekend road trip to DePaul and Marquette on October 27 and 28.
