WSOC Looks to Finish Regular Season Strong at Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The UConn women's soccer team (8-3-5, 5-1-3 BIG EAST) looks to continue its strong play with a regular season finale at Seton Hall (6-6-5, 2-3-4 BIG EAST) on Thursday night at 6 p.m. at Owen T. Carroll Field.Â
The Huskies have been unbeaten in nine of their last 10 matches and are unbeaten in their last four matches (3-0-1).
With a win at Providence on Sunday, the Huskies secured a top-three finish in the BIG EAST standings and still have an opportunity to secure a top two-seed and a bye to the BIG EAST Championship Semifinals.Â
The earn the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST the Huskies need to WIN and have Xavier LOSE/TIE. Any other result and the Huskies will host a BIG EAST Quarterfinal matchup on Sunday, October 29 at Morrone Stadium.
With the Huskies strong play, they have emerged in the NCAA Tournament discussion with an RPI at 47 entering the week.Â
Fifth-year senior Cara Jordan leads the team with five goals after scoring on Sunday against the Friars. The Cromwell, Conn. native is tied with Abbey Jones for the team lead with 12 points. Sophomore Chioma Okafor has four goals and 11 points this season. The Blantyre, Malawi native had a standout performance vs. the Pirates last year by tallying her first career hat trick in a 4-0 victory.Â
UConn leads the BIG EAST with just seven goals allowed this season and second in the league with a 1.62 goals per game average.this season (26 total goals).Â
