UConn Set to Face Boston College in Hockey East Quarterfinals

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team is set to face the Boston College Eagles in the quarterfinals of the Hockey East Tournament in Chestnut Hill, Mass. on Saturday, Feb. 25. Â
Last year, UConn reached the Hockey East Championship for the second consecutive year after defeating Vermont by a score of 3-1 in the semifinals. However, Northeastern would cut UConn's run to the championship short, as Northeastern went on to take the Hockey East trophy. Â
UConn rounded out the season with an 18-12-4 overall record and a 12-11-4 Hockey East record. Last weekend, the Huskies swept the home and home series against Holy Cross to end the regular season. Senior captain Coryn Tormala finished with two goals in the two-game series including a first goal scored by Emma Eryou.Â
Scouting the EaglesÂ
Rounding out the regular season, Boston College went 19-14-1 overall and 16-11 in conference play. Last weekend, the Eagles split the home and home series winning 5-2 on the road on Friday and falling 3-0 at home on Saturday. Leading the way for Boston College are Abby Newhook and Hannah Bilka as they combine for 30 goals, 40 assists, and 70 total points this season.Â
The Huskies swept the season series against the Eagles winning the home and home on Nov. 4 and Nov. 5 and then won the third game 3-1 away in Chestnut Hill, Mass. on Jan. 17. Â
