Softball set for series with Georgetown

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn softball team (15-8, 4-2 BIG EAST) is set for a weekend series with the Georgetown Hoyas (6-18, 2-4 BIG EAST) in Storrs. The first two games of the series will be played on Friday afternoon starting at 2:00pm.
The Huskies have found their stride, winners in eight out of their last ten games. In this ten game stretch, UConn is hitting .339 collectively, scoring 69 runs, with 26 extra base hits. The Huskies have also found success in the run game stealing 45 bases in this ten game stretch adding to their total of 68 on the season, ranking 15th in all of Division I softball. Aziah James and Lexi Hastings lead the team with 18 stolen bases on the season and each rank in the top ten in the country in stolen bases per game.
The pitching staff has been impressive in this ten game stretch, holding opponents to a .188 batting average, with 65 strikeouts. Payton Kinney has led the staff in this stretch with a 1.88 era in five appearances.
Georgetown is coming off a series loss at Seton Hall last weekend. . The Hoyas are coached by fellow Husky great, Pat Conlan. In her time at UConn, Conlan was an All American and led the Huskies to four BIG EAST Tournament titles. She was a key piece in the 1993 College World Series team and remains one of the best players to ever wear a Husky uniform.
