VILLANOVA, Penn. – The UConn softball team beat the Villanova Wildcats 10-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies bats continued to stay hot from yesterday, matching their game high in hits with fourteen.

Payton Kinney started in the circle for the Huskies going four innings with five strikeouts. She earned her sixth win of the season.

The Huskies opened the scoring with a six run second inning all coming with two outs. Savannah Ring started the two out rally with an infield single, scoring Makenzie Mason. Lexi Hastings delivered the big blow of the inning with a three run home run, her third homer of the year making it 4-0 Huskies. Jana Sanden kept the inning going with another infield single, scoring Aziah James. Rosie Garcia drove in the sixth run of the inning with a single up the middle, scoring Grace Jenkins.

Villanova got a run back in the bottom half of the second inning making it 6-1.

The Huskies broke it open in the fifth inning with four runs all coming off the bat of James. She hit her first career home run, a grand slam down the left field line making it 10-1 UConn.

Meghan O'Neil came on in relief for Kinney in the fifth inning securing the Huskies third run rule win of the season.

UConn will look to complete the series sweep on Sunday at noon.
