STORRS, Conn. - The No. 20 UConn baseball team (24-8) beat Bryant (13-15), 11-3, on Tuesday afternoon in front of 950 at Elliot Ballpark.Â
The Huskies recorded its 12th double digit run scoring game of the season with Korey Morton and Ryan Hyde each driving in three.
Morton recorded an RBI double in the in the fifth and capped the scoring for the Huskies with his seventh home run of the season, a two-run shot, to dead center field that made it 11-3 Huskies in the 8th.Â
Jake Studley extended his hit streak to 12 games with an RBI double to get the Huskies on the board in the first.Â
Both teams traded runs until the Huskies took the lead for good at 3-2 in the fourth.
Tommy Ellisen earned the victory out of the pen with 1.2 shutout innings on the hill. The right-hander got out of a major jam in the fourth with the bases loaded and one out by getting an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play to keep the game tied 2-2.
Will Nowak, Zach Fogell, Brady Afthim and Justin Willis combined to throw three scoreless frames while Michael Quigley struck out the side in the sixth.
Garrett Coe got the start and tied his season-high with four punch outs on the hill.Â
Next up, the Huskies square off in a highly anticipated three-game series at Xavier beginning on Friday, April 14 at 3 p.m.
