No. 15 HookC Splits Doubleheader, Wins Series vs. Georgetown

STORRS, Conn. - The No. 15 UConn baseball team (29-11, 6-3 BIG EAST) captured its eighth straight series win by splitting a doubleheader against Georgetown on Saturday afternoon at Elliot Ballpark in front of 1117 fans.
The Huskies captured game one 6-3 with Luke Broadhurst breaking a 3-3 tie in the seventh with a solo shot off the left field foul pole. It was the 10th homer of the year for the Stafford Springs, Conn. native.Â
Closer Justin Willis came out of the bullpen in the eighth with the tying run at third and two outs. The West New York, N.J. native struck out Cody Bowker to keep the Huskies up a run.
After the Huskies tacked on two runs in the eighth, Willis retired the side in order in the ninth to record his 23rd career save to break the UConn program record for saves in a career.Â
In game two Jake Studley got UConn on the board first with an RBI single in the first. Ian Cooke was dealing early, retiring the first five batters he faced. The New Milford, Conn. native ran into trouble in the second by allowing the next six batters to reach and giving up three runs in the frame.Â
The UConn offense was only able to muster up two runs and lost the series finale 6-2.Â
