HARTFORD, Conn. - The No. 10 UConn baseball team (30-11) recorded a two-hit shutout to beat Rhode Island (17-20), 9-0, on Tuesday evening at Dunkin' Park.

Seven UConn pitchers combined for the Huskies second shutout of the season.

The Huskies got all the runs they would need in the first inning with a two-run double from Jake Studley and two-run single from Bryan Padilla.

Studley, Dominic Freeberger and Korey Morton all recorded multi-hit performances in the winning effort.

T.C. Simmons made his first start since March 3 when he was hit by a pitch and missed 31 games. The center fielder drew two walks and scored a run.

Luke Broadhurst added a two-run double in the eighth inning to cap the scoring at 9-0.

Garrett Coe got the start on the mound and earned his fourth win of the year with 3.0 shutout inniings and he tied his career-high with five strikeouts.

Michael Quigley (1.0 IP), Tommy Ellisen (2.0 IP), Joe Carrea (1.0 IP), Jude Abbadessa (0.2 IP), Zach Fogell (0.1 IP) and Brady Afthim (1.0 IP) combined to throw six shutout frames with just one hit and nine strikeouts.

The Huskies have won 30 games for the 16th time in the past 19 completed seasons under head coach Jim Penders.
