Huskies To Honor Nine Seniors in Final Regular Season Game

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn Women's Lacrosse team is set to honor their nine seniors in a pre-game ceremony before their final regular season game against Xavier University on Saturday, April 29th. The Senior Day ceremony is scheduled for 11:15am and opening draw will take place at 11:30am.
UConn is coming off a road win versus Butler in Indianapolis, IN last weekend. They clinched their spot in the BIG EAST tournament with the defeat of the Bulldogs, scoring a season-high 22 goals.
The UConn offense had another strong showing last week, as senior, Kate Shaffer continues to impress for the Huskies, notching 12 goals and four assists. She is currently ranked #23 in the country for points per game and was name the BIG EAST Attacker of the Week. Grad student, Grace Coon, had seven goals, while redshirt freshman, Rayea Davis, had eight goals and one assist. Senior captain, Madelyn George, had a career-high 12 draw controls at Butler, totaling 14 on the week with a ground ball and a caused turnover.
Grad student goalkeeper, Landyn White, had 22 saves on the week, including tying her career-high saves in a win over the Georgetown Hoyas. Julia Ozimek had an outstanding week on defense for the Huskies, totaling 6 ground balls, 5 caused turnovers, and 2 draw controls.
Scouting Xavier
The Musketeers come into the game 4-9 (0-5 BIG EAST). They lost to Villanova 21-9 in their final home game of the season on Wednesday afternoon. Kiera Armitage posted the game-high of seven draw controls in the contest - a new career record for the freshman midfielder. The Musketeers will be looking for their first win in the BIG EAST this year versus the Huskies on Saturday.
