No. 9 HookC Extends Win Streak to Seven

STORRS, Conn. - The No. 9 UConn baseball team (36-11) won its season-high seventh game in a row with a 9-7 victory against Hofstra (23-24) on Wednesday night at Elliot Ballpark.Â
The Huskies rallied from a 4-1 deficit with seven of their 10 hits being extra base hits including a season-high three triples on the night.Â
Freshman Maddix Dalena gave the Huskies the lead for good in the fourth with a two-run double to right field. The first baseman collected his first career double and later on in the ballgame registered his first career triple The Montoursville, Pa. native has reached base safely in his last eight games and has a career-high five-game hit streak.Â
Korey Morton notched his 17th multi-hit game of the season with his 10th home run of the season, a solo shot, and a triple that nearly resulted in an inside-the-park home run.Â
Garrett Coe captured his team-leading sixth win of the season with 3.1 strong frames out of the bullpen.Â
Zach Fogell tossed 1.2 shutout innings out of the pen and closer Justin Willis recorded the final four outs of the game to notch his 24th career save and eighth of the season.
Luke Broadhurst took the team lead with his 11th home run on a no-doubt solo homer to right field that made it 1-1 in the second inning.Â
T.C. Simmons provided insurance late in the game with his second home run of the season and first since his home run against Cal Poly on February 24.Â
Next up, the Huskies host Butler for a three-game series at Elliot Ballpark beginning on Friday, May 12 at 6:05 p.m.

- The Huskies are now 7-8 on the year when they've been outhit by their opponent.
- Wednesday's game was only the seventh game this season that the Huskies have committed multiple errors in a contest.
- David Smith had played in all 112 games with 111 starts during his time at UConn prior to missing Wednesday night's game with injury. It ended a streak of 99-straight starts.
