STORRS, Conn. – The No.15 UConn field hockey team (1-1) opens their home slate this weekend with two non-conference games against NFHCA top-20 teams, No.16 Rutgers and No.13 Harvard.
The Huskies are coming off their first road weekend to Pennsylvania and New Jersey, where they lost to No.11 Saint Joseph's on Friday but rebounded to beat Monmouth on Sunday.
Violeta Francese scored her first career goal as a Husky in the win over the Monmouth Hawks. Freshman goalkeeper, Natalie McKenna, tallied 10 saves on the weekend, earning her BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors.
The Huskies and the Scarlett Knights face off on Friday in the 28th matchup in program history. Rutgers has been victorious over UConn during the past two contests, with the game being forced into overtime last fall. The Scarlett Knights are undefeated this season, after a three-game stint in California on opening weekend.
UConn and Harvard have a rich history, playing against each other since 1987. The Huskies have beaten the Crimson 24 times, including edging them out last year in Cambridge, MA. Harvard opens their season this weekend with games against UMass on Friday and UConn on Sunday.
You can catch the Huskies on Friday at 4:00 pm versus Rutgers and on Sunday at 1:00 pm versus Harvard. Both games will be live streamed on UConn+.
