WSOC Loses 1-0 at Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team (3-2-1) dropped a road contest at Yale, 1-0, on Sunday evening at Reese Stadium.Â
Despite outshooting the Bulldogs, 20-8, and securing an 11-3 edge in corner kicks the Huskies were unable to find the back of the net.Â
The lone goal scored by Yale came on an own goal that came off the foot of a UConn defender in the 32nd minute.Â
Yale goalkeeper Marissa Shorrock made 11 saves on the night including a key save on Cara Jordan on a one-on-one opportunity in the 72nd minute.
Chioma Okafor led the Huskies with five shots including three on goal. Jordan added three shots on goal. Sophie McCarthy and Jessica Mazo added three shots a piece.Â
UConn closes non-conference play next Saturday, September 16 at 7 p.m. against Buffalo at Morrone StadiumÂ
