FH Falls in BIG EAST Conference Opener

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – The UConn field hockey team (1-6) fell to Temple University in their BIG EAST conference opener on Friday afternoon.
The game started slow for both teams, with neither taking a single shot in the first quarter. The Huskies got something rolling in the second with three penalty corner attempts and four shots, but ultimately couldn't capitalize on those and the game remained tied as they headed into halftime.
UConn started the second half strong, with three penalty corner attempts within the first three minutes of resumed play. The Huskies took five shots in the third period, however, the game still remained scoreless. The only goal of the game came from a rebound of a penalty corner attempt for the Owls to give Temple the win.
The Huskies ended the game without taking a shot in the final period. Sophomore, Julia Bressler, had four shots in the loss, while freshman goalkeeper had two saves on a total of only five shots for the Owls.
UConn will remain on the road for a matchup against Princeton on Sunday, September 17th at 12:00pm. Princeton defeated No.5 Maryland on Thursday afternoon to advance to 2-3 on the season. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
