Huskies Set for Matchup Over In-State Foe, Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The UConn women's lacrosse team is set to take on in-state foe, No.18 Yale University on Saturday afternoon in New Haven. The game will wrap up the five-game road stretch for the Huskies to start their season.
The Huskies are coming off their first win of the season last Wednesday over UNH in Durham, N.H. Grad student, Kate Shaffer, notched five goals in the victory over the Wildcats, her season-high and UConn's current game-high. The UConn offense was rounded out with three goals from Morgan Carter, two from each Susan Lafountain and Rayea Davis, and one apiece from Shea van den Broek, Lauren Barry, Abby Charron, Eliza Bowman, and Jenna Giardina.
Veteran goalkeeper, Landyn White, posted a 69% save percentage which earned her BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. White let in four goals and saved nine shots. Freshman, Abby Beran took home BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors for her contributions on defense. Beran had two draw controls, 1 caused turnover, and 2 ground balls in the win.
The Bulldogs are undefeated going into Saturday's matchup. Jenna Collignon had five goals in their victory over the Princeton Tigers.
The Huskies beat the Bulldogs last year in an overtime thriller at home in Storrs, making it the second straight win over Yale. They'll look to do it for a third time in a row on Saturday afternoon.
The game will be live streamed on ESPN+ with opening draw set at 1:00pm.
