SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – UConn men's basketball freshman Braylon Mullins has been named to the Preseason Watch List for the 2026 Julius Erving Award, presented annually by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame to the top small forward in the nation. The Hall of Fame is announcing the preseason watch lists for the "Starting Five" awards this week.
The honor for Mullins comes ahead of the five-star freshman's debut season in Storrs. The McDonald's All American from Greenfield, Ind. was named 'Mr. Basketball' in the state of Indiana following his senior season at Greenfield-Central, where he came the program's all-time leading scorer and posted more than 30 points per game. Mullins made his unofficial debut for Connecticut in the exhibition against Boston College on Oct. 13, getting the start and scoring 12 points with a pair of 3-pointers in 16 minutes. He was named BIG EAST Preseason Freshman of the Year on Oct. 21.
Mullins joins teammates Silas Demary Jr. (Cousy) and Solo Ball (West) as members of a preseason watch list for the Starting Five awards. The trio are looking to add to Cousy Award winners Kemba Walker (2011), Shabazz Napier (2014) and Tristen Newton (2024) among the all-time positional award winners in program history.
