UConn Plays to Strong Fall Finish in Maui

LAHAINA, HI – The UConn men's golf team turned in their best team performance of the season to wrap the fall portion of their schedule at the Ka'anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER in Maui, Hawaii.
The Huskies finished 11th overall in the 19-team field, posting a season-low team score of 833 (-19) over the three-day tournament at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course. The Huskies posted a 281 on Monday, fired their best round of the tournament on Tuesday at 275 and closed it out at 277 on Wednesday.
The Oklahoma Sooners took home the team title for the fourth consecutive year and did so in record breaking fashion. The Sooners finished the three-day, 54-hole event with a blistering 63-under team total (789), breaking Kansas' record of 800 held since 2021.
Junior Bradley Sawka (Ellington, CT) finished out his impressive fall season with his best three-round tournament score as a Husky. Sawka finished the tournament at seven-under, firing a career-low 206 over the three days. He tied for 29th in the competitive field, with rounds of 71, 69 and 66.
Sawka's final round 66 was the lowest round of his career and the lowest round posted by a Husky this season.
Sophomore Matt Costello (Taunton, MA) had a career-best tournament as well for UConn, finishing with a six-under score of 207 over the three rounds. Costello opened his tournament with a one-under 70 and on Tuesday had the lowest round of his young career, firing a four-under 67. He finished his tournament under par on Wednesday firing 70. He was tied for 34th overall.
Senior Connor Goode (Glastonbury, CT) finished with a 214 to tied for 73rd overall. Goode shot matching two-under 69s over the first two rounds and finished with a 76 on Wednesday.
Rounding out the UConn contingent was senior Colin Spencer (Mashpee, MA) who shot 217 (74-70-73) and sophomore Caden Blanchette (Manchester, PA) who also posted a 217 (71-78-68), both tying for 88th The duo both tied their season-low tournament scores on the week. Blanchette's third rough 68 was the lowest round of his career.
Freshman Brayden Jenard (Jupiter, FL), playing as an individual, posted a score of 218 (73-69-76) to finish tied for 94th.
The Huskies will be off until kicking-off the spring portion of their schedule on February 9-10 at the Lake Jovita Invitational.
