EAST HARTFORD, CT — Running back Cam Edwards ran for 165 yards and two touchdowns as the UConn Huskies secured a 26-16 victory over the Air Force Falcons on Saturday in front of 31,457 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.
The Huskies improve to 8-3 on the season and finish the 2025 season 6-0 at home. UConn played just the third unbeaten season at The Rent and first since 2010.
Edwards rumbled to his fourth 100-yard game this season and in doing so, reached 1,000 yards on the year. He becomes the first UConn running back to hit the century mark since the 2019 season (K. Mensah -1,013/2019) and the 14th Husky all-time to do it.
Quarterback Joe Fagnano completed 15 of 23 passes for 155 yards and added a rushing touchdown on a single carry. Wide receiver Skyler Bell hauled in eight receptions, accounting for 70 receiving yards.
Defensively, Oumar Diomande and Malachi McLean each contributed 13 tackles.
The Huskies capitalized on a short field on their first drive, with Fagnano rushing for a 10-yard touchdown at 10:29, though the extra point attempt failed. Air Force responded effectively with a 75-yard drive, culminating in a 6-yard touchdown run by Dylan Carson at 4:48, to take a 7–6 lead. UConn's next possession ended abruptly with Fagnano's pass intercepted by Max Mustell at the Falcons' 45-yard line, marking his first interception of the season.
In the second quarter, the Falcons mounted a significant drive, advancing 90 yards over 19 plays and eating up 11:50 on the clock but the effort ended without points as they turned the ball over on downs at the Huskies' 2-yard line.
UConn responded to close the half, with Freeman eventually converting a 47-yard field goal with 28 seconds left on the clock, increasing their lead to 9-7 at the break.
Edwards went to work in the second half, rushing it 22 times for 150 yards. UConn extended their lead early in the third quarter with a touchdown drive that began with Edwards' 36-yard rush to the Falcons' 43. Edwards capped the drive with an 8-yard touchdown run at 11:18, pushing the score to 16–7. The Falcons responded with a 36-yard field goal by Tubbs at 5:17, narrowing the gap to 16–10.
In the fourth quarter, the Huskies used a 27-yard field goal by Freeman at 14:16, to lead 19–10. Edwards played a pivotal role on the next UConn scoring drive, rushing for a 31-yard gain that set up a 5-yard touchdown run, widening the gap to 26–10.
Air Force responded with a late touchdown by Carson, but a failed two-point conversion attempt halted their comeback effort. UConn maintained possession to run out the clock, securing the victory.
The Huskies close out the regular season next Saturday, November 22 when they travel to Florida Atlantic to face the Owls. Kick-off is 3 pm on ESPN+
