BOSTON, Mass. — The University of Connecticut men's ice hockey team came back from three goals down to take down no.11 Northeastern University by a final of 4-3 in overtime.

Midway through the first period, Northeastern was able to take the 1-0 lead. With time running down, a UConn penalty gave Northeastern the man advantage and with ten seconds remaining in the period, Northeastern capitalized to take the 2-0 lead heading into the break.
In the second period, Northeastern's momentum carried over as they scored their third goal of the game three minutes into the period. UConn did not back down as the Huskies were able to score their first goal of the night as Ethan Gardula redirected a shot from the point to cut the Northeastern lead to two. Later in the period, following a Northeastern turnover, the Huskies were able to capitalize again as senior Ryan Tattle found Kaden Shahan for the Huskies second goal of the night. UConn looked prime to tie the game in the second period, but Northeastern's defense tightened up as UConn entered the break trailing by one.
The Huskies carried the momentum from the second period into the third as they were looking for the game tying goal. The Northeastern defense weathered the early UConn storm maintaining the one goal lead. With under six minutes remaining in the game, The Huskies were able to draw a penalty and while on the delayed penalty, Viking Gustafsson Nyberg found Jake Percival in front of the net for the redirect and the game tying goal. Neither team was able to find the back of the net again in regulation resulting in a five minute sudden death overtime period.
In the overtime period, UConn maintained control of the puck, looking to secure the win and the weekend sweep. Following a back and forth possesion, Northeastern gained control of the puck but after a turnover at the blue line, Joey Muldwoney collected the puck at center ice and on the breakaway scored the game winner securing the 4-3 victory in the Huskies final trip to Matthews Arena.
Jake Percival finished the weekend with four goals, while Ethan Gardula added two over the weekend.
UP NEXT: The Huskies will turn their attention to a home and home series with the University of New Hampshire beginning Nov. 21 in Durham.
