STORRS, Conn. – No. 5 UConn women's hockey (18-4-2) is set for a two-game home series against No. 8 Northeastern Huskies at the Toscano Family Ice Forum this weekend. The series will begin on Friday, January 23 at 6:00pm and will conclude Saturday, January 24 at 3:00pm. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+. TICKETS
UConn is coming off a series split against Merrimack last weekend. Merrimack ended the Huskies six game winning streak, handing UConn their first loss since November 8. The Huskies are currently in second place in the Hockey East standings on 34 points with an 11-2-1 record. Northeastern is atop of the standings on 40 points with a 13-1 conference record. UConn has been strong on the dot this season, ranking first in the conference with a 0.559 faceoff percentage and eighth nationally. The centers are led by senior Brooke Campbell, who has 235 faceoff wins, followed by juniors Ashley Allard, Livvy Dewar and Martha Mobarak, each with more than 100 faceoff wins this season. Last weekend, Dewar led the Huskies in points, recording two goals and an assist for her first career three-point performance in Friday's victory. Dewar has already surpassed her career season high in point this season with 15.
A Look at Northeastern
No. 8 Northeastern (17-6) enters the weekend having won two of their last three games. The Huskies are coached by Dave Flint in his 17th season. The Huskies were picked to finish in third in the Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll after reaching the Hockey East Championship game in 2024-25 for the ninth consecutive season. This year, Northeastern has been led by senior forward Lily Shannon who has a conference leading 34 points, tallying 16 goals and 18 assists.
Series History
Northeastern took all four games from UConn in 2024-25, sweeping the three-game regular season series and then knocking out the Huskies in the Hockey East Tournament Semifinal. All three games in the regular season were separated by one goal. Dating back to the 2022-23 season, UConn and Northeastern have played in six one-score games out of ten total contests. Northeastern leads the all-time series, 49-21-13.
