STORRS, Conn.- UConn women's lacrosse will face its toughest test of the season this weekend, taking on #21 James Madison at the US Lacrosse Facility in Sparks, Maryland on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
Previously on UConn Lacrosse:
The Huskies picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Fairfield 10-6 on the road. Rayea Davis led the UConn attack, scoring a team-high four goals. Hadley Bethke scored two goals in the fourth quarter, including the go-ahead goal, to give the Huskies the lead. UConn scored six unanswered goals to secure the victory. Meg O'Brien tallied five points in the win. O'Brien leads the team with 10 points.
Opposition Research:
James Madison secured a win in its last time out, taking down Virginia Tech 13-6. The Dukes were led by Payton Root's four goals, rebounding from a season-opening defeat to top-ranked North Carolina 19-11. Olivia Matthews and Reese Cuviello were selected as American Conference Attack and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively. JMU was picked to win the American again in 2026, receiving six of seven first-place votes. The Dukes went 14-5 in 2025, winning the American Championship before losing to Duke in the NCAA Tournament. JMU leads the all-time series 10-2, beating the Huskies 11-8 at the US Lacrosse Facility.
