No. 6 UConn Closes out the Regular Season at Home This Weekend

STORRS, Conn. – No. 6 UConn women's hockey (23-7-2) is set for two Hockey East matchups this weekend at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. UConn will face No. 5 Northeastern on Friday, February 20 at 5:30pm on ESPNU. The Huskies will close out the regular season against Merrimack on Saturday, February 21 at 3:00pm and will be streamed on ESPN+. TICKETS
UConn has won four out of their last five games coming into the final weekend of the regular season. The Huskies have secured the No. 2 seed in the Hockey East Tournament with a 16-5-1 conference record. FULL STANDINGS
This season, UConn is 11-5-1 when playing at home. The Huskies special teams has been strong this season, scoring 18 power play goals, while holding a .875 penalty kill percentage. UConn is 16-1-1 this season when scoring a goal on the power play. Forwards Kyla Josifovic and Livvy Dewar lead the Huskies with five power play goals apiece.
A Look at Northeastern
The Northeastern Huskies (24-7-1) are coming off their first loss in their last nine games, falling to Boston College in overtime last weekend, 1-0. Northeastern was victorious against UConn in both matchups back in January in Storrs. Northeastern won game one, 4-2 and game two, 1-0, despite being outshot in both games. Northeastern secured the Hockey East Regular Season title with a 19-2-1 conference record.
A Look at Merrimack
The Merrimack Warriors (7-21-4) enter the weekend, winners in two of their last three games. The Huskies and Warriors split the two-game series in January. UConn won game one in dominant fashion, 8-1. Merrimack took game two in overtime, 2-1, despite getting outshot, 37-17. The loss snapped a six-game win streak and eleven game unbeaten streak for the Huskies. The Warriors are currently in 10th place in the Hockey East standings with a 4-16-2 conference record.
