Oximana and Bethke Secure BIG EAST Weekly Awards

STORRS- Two UConn women's lacrosse players secured weekly recognition this week following UConn's 15-6 win over Xavier last Saturday.

Junior goalkeeper Sofia Oximana was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and freshman attacker Hadley Bethke earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced in a release on Monday.

Oximana secured her fifth win of the season, making nine saves at a .600 save percentage. The junior scooped up two ground balls and caused one turnover in the UConn win.

Bethke tallied a career-high six points on Saturday, scoring four goals and dishing out two assists to spark the UConn attack. The freshman ranks third on the Huskies in goals (18) and points (27).

UConn returns to action at Morrone Stadium on Tuesday, April 14^th at 6:00 pm against New Hampshire.
