Katie Frederick joined the UConn women's lacrosse staff in August, 2021 and enters her 5th season with the program in 2026.
Frederick helped lead the Huskies to a 7-10 overall record in 2026, including a 3-3 mark in BIG EAST play, and a berth in the BIG EAST Tournament. Under Frederick’s guidance, junior defender Abby Beran earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season and was named to the IWLCA First Team All-Region. Beran and Rayea Davis garnered All-BIG EAST First Team honors, while Barlow Clark-Schoeb and Megan O’Brien were selected to the All-BIG EAST Second Team. Following UConn’s BIG EAST Tournament semifinal appearance against Georgetown, Frederick also helped guide goalkeeper Sofia Oximana and Clark-Schoeb to BIG EAST All-Tournament Team recognition.
Frederick has coached two-time BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year Landyn White ('22, '23) during her tenure with the program. White was also named IL Women All-American Honorable Mention and USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention in 2023. White has over 200 single-season saves (2023), a program record, and has amassed over 500 career saves.
Fredrick came to UConn after a coaching stint at Coastal Carolina where she served as the defensive coordinator and goalkeeper specialist since 2016 and was also the team's recruiting coordinator during her tenure.
"I'm really excited to have Katie in our program," stated Woods. "She brings a wealth of experience on and off the field and has a real passion for the game, and excitement for UConn. We are looking forward to her joining the program and working with our student-athletes."
During her tenure at Coastal Carolina, Frederick coached a pair of goaltenders to defensive player of the year awards and had the league's first team all-conference goalkeeper for five-straight seasons. She coached 20 all-conference defenders and midfielders including 11 first teamers.
Before entering the coaching ranks at Coastal Carolina, Frederick had a standout four-year playing career at Ohio State where she captained the team. During her four-years, Ohio State racked up 45 wins, earned the program's highest national ranking (#8) and two NCAA Tournament appearances.
Frederick graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Human Development and Family Science in 2016 and was a BIG 10 Distinguished Scholar Athlete.
